Couponing at Walgreens and CVS

I wasn't planning on going to the store today but after seeing the weekly deals for CVS and Walgreens, I made the trip! Sometimes I just can't afford to not go to the store.

On my first order, I bought a 32 load Tide laundry detergent, 4 bottles of Tide Stain Release (one of my new favorite products), a Bounce 2 month dryer bar, and Vaseline Sheer Infusion Lotion. After my coupons and my $5 off any $25 purchase coupon from taking their flu quiz online, I paid $25.59 and received $17 in Extra Care Bucks.

On my second order, I bought 2 digital sports watches (with stop watch) on 75% off clearance at the store on Cortaro, 1 Gillette Fusion Gamer Razor, and 2 Ponds Facial Cleanser Towelettes. After my coupons and the $17 in ECBs, I paid $2.79 (2.01 of that was tax). Plus I received another printable ECB for $5 off my next trip!

So my total out of pocket ended up being $28.38 with $5 left for my next trip to CVS! Not to bad! Total Savings of $72.96 on just the 2 orders- not including the $5 ECB I still have left.

At Walgreens, I bought 2 jumbo packs of Pampers diapers, Oral-B Advantage 1-2-3 Toothbrush, Chapstick Fresh Effects, Vaseline Sheer Infusion Lotion, Halls Refresh Cough Drops, Herbal Essence Hair Spray, Gillette Fusion MVP Razor, and Emergen-C Booster. After my coupons, $6.50 in previous Register Rewards, and $5 off coupon good today and tomorrow only, I paid $31.80 and received $28 back in Register Rewards that I can use anytime before 10/13!

Plus their machine printed me off a coupon for $6 off any Air Wick Freshmatic i-Motion Starter Kit that doesn't expire until 12/22. There should be a good sale between now and then on this item.

How to Make A Coupon File Box

I get asked all the time, how I do my couponing. I was going to type up how I organize my coupons, but then I found another money saving blogger, Southeast Texas Deal Seeker, who already had posted how to do it on her blog with pictures. Click here to see how she does it.

I do the exact same thing but I use a larger file box. Every Sunday I place the coupons in a file folder and record the Sunday they came and which inserts were included. I place all my printable ones from the Internet in files with the source listed, so I know where to find them as well.

I also use this Pinching Your Pennies link to know when to toss the old inserts that have expired. The link is for Arizona couponers only.

Each week I post the grocery deals for each grocery store. Look in the right column under the follow me on twitter button under Labels. I list the deals for 6 grocery stores. They are listed as "Grocery: ..." I list the Sunday Paper date and the insert for the coupon needed.

HOW TO GET COUPONS

There are so many ways to get coupons.

Lately I realized that I am using more printable coupons than coupons from the Sunday paper. You can get printable coupons from so many sources for pretty much everything you need for your family.

The AZ Republic newspaper contains more coupons than the Daily Star newspaper, but cost a lot more. You can also sign up for multiple Sunday papers. Sometimes there may be a coupon that you can not find listed in the deals for that week if you get only the Daily Star.

Coupon Basics for Tucson

Safeway, Bashas, and Frys double coupons taking up to $1 off everyday!! Translation: If you have a coupon for .25, they take off an additional .25. If you use a .65 coupon, they take off an additional .35. The only exception is if the coupon or printable coupon states DO NOT DOUBLE.

Pair coupons with sales items to get amazing deals. PinchingYourPennies.com is a free site that lists the Arizona Free/Cheap weekly deals using coupons. Using this resource and my coupons, I get free or next to free food, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, etc... I list on this site what I see as the best deals of the week while they list everything available for each store.
