YMCA locations across the country are hosting free Healthy Kids Day events tomorrow (Saturday, April 18, 2009).

"Put play in your day and enjoy some fun and relaxing active family time by visiting your local Y on April 18 for YMCA Healthy Kids® Day. The nation’s largest health day for children and families, YMCA Healthy Kids Day offers fun, engaging and creative activities for children and families and promotes year-long wellness and healthier living. YMCA Healthy Kids Day events are free and open to all.

YMCA Healthy Kids Day will be celebrated across the country at more than 1,750 YMCAs. [Click here to see if a YMCA in your area is hosting an event. Please be aware, not all YMCAs hold their events on April 18]. Last year, more than 700,000 people participated in YMCA Healthy Kids Day events nationwide, enjoying games, classes, demonstrations, arts and crafts, educational resources, healthy treats, giveaways and more. "Just look at a sampling of the free fun:
  • Ott YMCA will offer Zumba, a karate class demo, the fire department, karaoke, a big skate park day, a ‘side show’ stage for performances every half hour and the Junior Olympics. Event lasts from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Northwest YMCA, Come by from 8:30am to 12:00pm for the Y-Athlon, vendors, the Triangle Y climbing wall and much, much more.
  • Jacobs YMCA (combined with Lohse and Holsclaw branches) hosts an event from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Activities include a jumping castle obstacle course, a shish-ka-fruit station, food pyramid games, “Got Milk” pictures, pedometer tracking, Suntran, the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, family relays, karate demonstrations, gymnastics performances and more."
